About Cabarita
Cabarita is a suburb in the Inner West, and it is one of the suburbs in New South Wales, Australia. It is sixteen kilometers west of the Sydney central business district.
According to the 2016 ABS census, there were 1 957 people in Cabarita, in which 49% were male and 51% were females. There were 596 families. Also, 65.0% of people were born in Australia.
History of Cabarita
Cabarita got its name from an Aboriginal word which means “by the water”.
David Anderson is a private soldier in the NSW Corps. In 1795, he was granted land in this suburb.
In 1856, a part of Cabarita Point was reserved for public recreation. Now known as Correy’s Garden, the reserve was enlarged in 1880 with the addition of 9.7 hectares of land.
